Kansas City Downtown Airport prepares for World Cup travel with scheduling system

Kansas City Downtown Airport – Wheeler Field (MKC) is slated to be a busy destination in June and July as the City of Kansas City hosts three national team home bases as well as six matches over the course of the tournament.

Due to the prominence of the global event in Kansas City, the Kansas City Aviation Department is implementing a reservation system at MKC to prevent congestion this summer.  

The program will last from June 12th to July 13th and the airspace surrounding Kansas City will be NOTAM as closed for any operators without a reservation.

Aircraft operators will need to contact their preferred Fixed Base Operator (FBO) or service provider to get an arrival and departure reservation number. Below are the emails to reserve a spot at MKC:
